Built as our take on the classic S, this Lir is the protype behind the flagship line.
This guitar brings together premium tonewoods, meticulous construction, and modern playability in a clean, elegant design which forms the basis for the first official Awen Guitars guitar model - the Lir.
Built by hand in my Dorset workshop, this instrument is designed for players who want clarity, responsiveness, and comfort in a truly custom instrument. Every aspect of this guitar has been designed with a simple goal - effortless, ergonomic and intuitive playability with stunning classically-flavoured tone.
The neck is carved from highly figured Sycamore, paired with a tasteful ebony fretboard for a fast, smooth feel under the fingers. A multiscale layout offers balanced string tension, improved tonal clarity, and an effortlessly comfortable playing experience across the entire fretboard.
The body combines lightweight ash with a beautifully figured flamed Sycamore top, delivering a lively acoustic character with punchy mids and articulate highs. Tactical arm and belly carves as well as a slight offset make this body style exceptionally comfortable.
Hardware and electronics are chosen with performance and reliability in mind. Gotoh 510 locking tuners provide rock-solid stability, while a custom string-through bridge with stainless steel saddles adds sustain and precision.
A set of Deacci Blackhat 1 single coils offers a classic voice with enhanced clarity and dynamic response. Paired with CTS pots, a Switchcraft jack, and a push/pull option to engage the bridge pickup, this guitar offers versatile, musical tones suited for clean articulation, expressive blues, and rich overdrive textures.
